The Micah Ministry is the urban, ecumenical outreach mission of Independence Boulevard Christian Church to the unhoused and food insecure people in the historic Northeast area of Kansas City, Missouri. The Micah Ministry began in 2001 as a mission designed to encourage Christian unity, end racism and “feed my sheep.” (John 21:15-17) It is centered around a ministry of home-cooked meals in which faith-based and civic volunteers partner and seek to help our food vulnerable neighbors.

From 5:30p-7:00p every Monday, Micah offers a hot “to-go” meal, hygiene products, clothing, additional food items, a free medical clinic from Care Beyond the Boulevard, and items to support our house-less neighbors such as blankets, sleeping bags, tents, etc. We partner with several organizations. Now into our 23rd year, though the pandemic hit us hard and pushed most of our engagement outdoors, Micah continues to faithfully serve a need in the community and our numbers continue to climb. We are currently serving 600 - 800 meals each week.

God has shown you, humankind, what is good; so, what does the LORD require of you, but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God…” (Micah 6:8)
